Coniston

The Coniston Series II Loudspeaker
Whatever your taste in music the Coniston Series II fulfils that essential requirement, it lets you enjoy the music. Compact, beautifully finished and designed for convenient use close to a room wall these loudspeakers provide luxury listening at a realised price.

The Royd A7, Coniston Series II and Coniston R incorporate a unique development of bass reflex loading. The basic advantage of bass reflex designs over any other arrangement, is that given the same cabinet size, bass unit diameter and sensitivity, then lower frequencies can be accurately reproduced. This means that the bass performance achieved by a small reflex cabinet would require a much larger closed cabinet. Small cabinets have the advantage of scale over larger cabinets in that they can much more easily be made strong and well damped.

In a simple bass reflex arrangement is is almost impossible to prevent a wide range of frequencies from being emitted from the port whereas only low bass frequencies emission is required, typically below 90 Hz. A unique solution to this problem has been developed by Royd Loudspeakers. An aluminium tube connects the bass unit magnet to the cabinet back and this tube provides a secondary vented chamber for the bass reflex loading. The emission of frequencies above 90 Hz is dynamically cut whilst frequencies below 90 Hz remain unaffected. Further refinements have been incorporated in the design of the Coniston R to reduce the windage noises and cavity resonances.

Another advantage of the small bass/mid range units in small cabinets is that they can easily integrated with the tweeter to produce a seamless reproduction of music. The Coniston Series II makes full use of this advantage to give an accurate detailed performance.

The Coniston loudspeaker is designed to be mounted on good quality firm stands, wall brackets or substantial shelves 1″ to 6″ from a room wall.
